She's not quite like me and might not get me. She's overly sensitive (I think) and cries easily. She likes buying makeup and comforts her sister. The more she stresses, the more she focuses. No doubt she's more opposite of me than not. You see...we're quite the opposites.
There's one bond, one thing that truly keeps us compatible. That is Christ. And then there are notable milestones that have bonded us--leaving us no choice but to keep in touch. Those are the treacherous snowy nights in 'Cuse, all-nighters in Whitman, EEE capstone and post-grad life planning/soul-searching. These were things we conquered together. I can reminisce difficult parts of life with her.
Sometimes it's not the likeness of two people that will bring them together. It's what you're both searching for.
During our last opportunity of conversation together on the drive to the airport, she mentioned that sometimes she will be hanging out with her, what she considers, good girlfriends and feel that "it" is so empty. I can't really define what "it" is, but I don't have to, to know what she means. I think we all feel it sometimes. Some don't recognize it but have definitely felt it.
I said, "I know what you mean..."
And for a minute I think to myself, I don't want to be like that. I don't want to make people feel that hanging out with me feels empty and purposeless. Then I realize, she's probably thinking the same exact thing. No matter how different we are and become I know we'll stay friends. I can't guarantee God's providence, but I know we search for the same thing.
